Perceptions of Yemeni People Toward Federalism 


(September 2014) – Quantitative & Qualitative Study on Federalism with a national sample – commissioned by the National Democratic institute (NDI)   

Public opinion survey with a nationally representative sample of 1,000 respondents. the survey conducted to measure the thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes of the public on issues relevant to the proposed federal regions model being discussed and debated as part of the constitution drafting process, including  general views and expectations of the constitution drafting committee; key provisions of the draft constitution such as electoral reform, decentralization, rule of law, natural resource sharing and creation of a federal structure; potential changes to government entities, including the judicial, legislative and executive branches, among others. PERCENT also conducted 8 focus groups under this contract across 4 governorates.

Qualitative survey about federalism in Yemen

(September 2014) – Several of focus groups in 4 provinces – contract with National Democratic institute (NDI)

PERCENT provided all logistical support for the implementing of several focus groups across 4 provinces meant to provide objective information on the public’s attitudes, priorities and needs, and focusing on issues relevant to the on-going constitution drafting process, including general views and  expectations of the constitution drafting committee, and efforts to engage citizens in the process of drafting the new constitution; key provisions of the draft constitution such as electoral reform, a gender quota, decentralization and creation of a federal structure; potential changes to government entities, including the judicial, legislative and executive branches; and protections of citizens’ rights, among others.
